We use limited storage technologies for core site behaviour and, only with your consent, optional analytics and optional third-party embeds. We do not set optional analytics storage or load third-party embed scripts until you actively opt in.
Strictly necessary → required for basic site operation and to remember your cookie choices. These do not require consent under PECR where strictly necessary.
Analytics (optional) → helps us measure visits and page performance. Disabled by default unless you choose “Accept optional cookies”.
Third-party embeds (optional) → some articles include embedded X/Twitter posts. These are blocked by default; if you opt in, the site may load platform.twitter.com/widgets.js, which contacts Twitter/X and may set or read third-party cookies according to X’s own policies.
Marketing → not currently used by us.
vrs_cookie_consent_v1 (localStorage) → stores your consent choices and timestamp.
vrs-theme (localStorage) → stores your dark/light preference.
No third-party analytics identifier is stored unless and until analytics consent is enabled.
X/Twitter embed scripts are not loaded until optional analytics/third-party embeds are accepted.
You can accept or reject optional analytics and third-party embeds in the consent banner. You can change your choice at any time via “Manage cookie choices” in the footer.
You can also clear browser storage manually in your browser settings.
